Access Umbrella works with corporate, cultural and educational institutions on issues of disability awareness, application of universal design principles, ADA compliance, policy development, and train-the-trainer sessions involving learning style theory. Members of the team combine personal experience with professional expertise to approach the design of programs, products, curriculum, and public spaces from a disabled consumer's perspective.

Access Umbrella, Inc. (AUI) maximizes your business potential by providing a wide range of services that increase organizational opportunities by targeting a much larger market - the substantial number of people who have some type of disability. According to a 2003 U. S. Census Survey Summary, about one out of every five individuals in the United States has some type of disability. This constitutes more than 77.5 million potential customers, and represents a broad spectrum of disabilities, some visible, some hidden. The number crosses racial, ethnic, age and gender lines. Access Umbrella can assist your organization in capturing an increased share of this largely untapped market. Additionally, AUI can help create a directed initiative by which your organization can recruit new employees from an under utilized employment resource.

For more than ten years, Access Umbrella has consulted with corporations, museums, cultural venues, educational institutions, television writers, and diversity and training organizations to improve access for people with varying abilities. Much of this work has focused on organizational development, inclusion training, and the implementation of universal design concepts. This includes addressing physical access, but centers on increasing the comfort level among an organization's employees. AUI's approach is to foster greater effectiveness in customer service by lowering the attitudinal barriers around access concerns, and providing the appropriate tools for doing so. Our mission is to increase understanding about the diversity of people with disabilities, and the variety of ways all people learn, in order to promote inclusion within your organization.

Access Umbrella, Inc. utilizes concepts of universal design to help your organization develop programs, systems, and policies that meet the needs of the greatest number of people in your work force and customer-base. AUI is comprised of individuals who have disabilities and have expertise in the fields of exhibit and space planning, program development, employee training, technical assistance, and compliance with access laws.
